Set against the scenic backdrop of the Meon Valley, Wickham Park is an attractive par-69 parkland course that rewards accuracy, strategy and thoughtful course management.
Its relatively level layout makes it enjoyable for golfers of all ages and abilities, while tree-lined fairways, well-placed water hazards and compact greens ensure there is plenty to test your game. 2nd
The 2nd is one of Wickham Park’s toughest tests, a demanding 402-yard par 4 with a pronounced dogleg to the left. Taking on the corner can offer a shorter route to the green, but the risk is considerable, making a well-placed long iron from the tee the sensible play for many golfers.
From there, the approach demands careful distance control, with a ditch guarding the front of the green, a bunker positioned back left and punishing rough waiting for anything pushed too far right. Navigate the hole with accuracy and patience, and a par will feel like an excellent result.
12th
The picturesque 12th is a memorable 140-yard par 3, played from an elevated tee some 30 feet above the green. The dramatic change in elevation makes club selection crucial, particularly when the prevailing wind is blowing into your face.
A pond and ditch protect the front of the green, while the lake to the far right is ready to punish anything drifting on the breeze. With the putting surface sloping from back to front, careful attention to the pin position and a well-controlled tee shot are essential to creating a good birdie opportunity.
17th
The Signature 17th is a thrilling test that can define your round. Measuring 198 yards and played uphill into the prevailing wind, this demanding par 3 calls for confidence, accuracy and careful club selection. Out of bounds waits to the left, while a bunker and heavy rough guard the right, leaving little margin for error from the tee.
Finding the two-tiered green in regulation is an achievement in itself, but with subtle slopes and challenging pin positions, securing par can still require a steady hand with the putter.
